Recording of the Spaceship Lounges began early in August with a plan to be finished before September, due to Jansen's scheduled departure for another year in Mexico. The purpose of the sessions was to capture a creative expression of ideas unique to that moment in time, celebrating a 20 year musical milestone for both Jansen and Radel. The songs were written and performed almost simultaneously; keeping first and second takes only in an effort to preserve the spontaneity of improvisation. For inspiration during the creative process they cut a track of Radel's child's heart beat with the aid of a Doppler pressed against the mothers womb on Maternity Lounge. The result is a perfect example of how their work is a sound track in a snapshot of life.

The final product is available on CD, DVD , and this web page. Reproduction and distribution are limited to handing out burned copies from a home computer to friends and anyone who asks. In a word from Radel, "not only did this project serve as a book mark on my 20th anniversary, but also as an escape from the daily grind that when it was over I found hard to return from."
